How could a woman......

By Rose Gold

When I found out I was pregnant, both times, I automaticly stopped smoking, drinking and taking drugs.  I started eating right and walking regularly.  Both of my children came out very healthy and are very smart!!  As a mother, I wanted my children to have to best chance at life that they could possibly have.  I was the one that chose to bring them into the world, they didn't ask to me to bring them here.

When you CHOOSE to have a child, you have to also realize that your life is no longer just yours.  They don't have a choice.  So YOU need to make the right one for them.  Everything you do effects these precious gifts.  Gifts that were given to you by GOD!!!

I don't understand how a woman could possibly have it in her to be so unfair to her unborn child. How she could allow herself to do things that she KNOWS will harm the baby.  Even though I don't feel that abortion is right, it would be less cruel then to cause the child to come into this world unhealthy.  Leaving THE CHILD with long term effects that could cause death, or worse, deformalities that cause a LIFE TIME of suffering.  What kind of person does it take to intentionaly do that to someone?  If a person was to beat another person into a state of disfunction they would be called "bad" "evil" "unhumain" etc.... and even be put in prison!!  Possibly even on death row.

I feel that if a baby is going to be an "unwanted thing" in your life, then be smart and protect yourself.  Yes I KNOW sometimes thats not 100% possible, so then in that case, do yourself and even the world a favor and don't purposely bring an unhealthy, drug addicted, deformed baby into this world then expect the world to feel sorry for YOU!!  In most cases the baby ends up in the system or on welfare and everybody else has to suport it and sometimes the child NEVER gets out of the system.

I agree with you- I wish more people would think about the consequences of bringing children into this world. They are Gods gifts and not "Throw-aways".

Excellent job Rose and keep writing!

Hello Rose,

Firstly i would like to say that i agree with your comments 100%.

I have just yesterday found out that i am pregnant and i have been drinking, smoking and taking drugs over the last 6 months. I do not know how far in my pregnancy i am but i have also not decided what the best thing to do is, I do nto want to go through the abortion route but me and my boyfriend are not in a financial position to bring up a child, however i know my mum would help me. i am 23 and live away from my mum and my boyfriend is in his final year at university, both of us want to move south when he finishes university and having a baby wouldnt allow that. But my main question is, do you think i could have really harmed the baby by taking drugs . smoking and drinking? if there is a chance that the baby woudl be affected (even though i have not taken anything and wouldnt take anything else) it would be cruel to bring a harmed baby to the world, but i am scared of having an abortion and i woudl love to have a baby. im very confused....?

Dani08, I don't know if I'm too late but you should find out how far along you are, the doctors can let you know what the chances of birth defects are. A lot of babies are just fine if mothers stop using within the first months. I say pray about it. Thats what stopped me from aborting my daughter who now is 3 and a half and I wouldn't change it for the world. God knows whats best. I would not be able to care for either of my children if it wasn't for Him. He provides!! Sometimes our own plans are not what God has in mind.
